"Man's emotional side is connected with The Astral Body, one of the 3 bodies of Man in The Physical Plane. The Astral Body is identical to the physical, cell for cell, but is composed of a finer substance than physical matter. Many people who have the gift of psychic sight can see The Astral Body of others, especially what is called the 'aura', the energy field which surrounds and is supported by The Astral Body."
"The Astral Body responds to the emotional side of Man. What is not generally understood is that The Astral is the seat of the emotions. All emotional responses of the human being originate in The Astral Body and affect first The Astral Vehicle. Only secondarily is the physical body influenced. It is of crucial importance for all men to understand this fact, because the nature of the emotions which they allow themselves to experience during earth life has a great impact on the structure, integrity, and health of The Astral Body."
"When a man dies to physical life, he discards only the physical body, and his conscious ego/personality shifts to The Astral Vehicle. If, for example, the individual, during his earthly incarnation, has allowed hatred, resentment, lust for revenge, and similar emotions to run unchecked within him, then, upon passing the threshold of physical death, he will discover, to his horror, that his 'new' body (The Astral Vehicle) is terribly misshapen, or crippled, or even has parts of Itself missing altogether. These forms of damage can, of course, be repaired in The Astral Planes, but the process of repair literally requires the individual to go back through his earth life stage for stage, and, with mental energy alone, resist the same temptations to feel negative emotions to which he yielded while alive on The Earth. The effort called for is prodigious, and, where the life on Earth was marked daily by outbursts of rage, temper, hatred, and the like, few souls can muster the energy or the courage to go back and reverse all the negativity that was allowed to manifest."
"Similar damage to The Astral arises when an individual indulges (for indulgence it is) in any of the negative emotions of grief, self-pity, greed, lust, fear, worry, pride, rage, hatred, or resentment. Only one single emotion is the health-builder for The Astral Vehicle, and that is love. Any form of love, affection, friendship, or the like will produce very positive results in terms of The Astral Vehicle."
"And the physical body becomes affected by negative emotions. The negative feelings and emotions have a deleterious effect on health, promote disease, and foster early aging and premature death, this process passing through the intermediary of The Astral Body. For example, when an individual allows himself to feel resentment or anger on a regular or daily basis (the condition of 95% of Humanity now in incarnation), the internal organs of The Astral Body are negatively influenced. There is a delayed effect, then, before being transferred to the physical. It takes about 9 months for changes in The Astral Vehicle to influence corresponding parts in the physical body."
"Many persons who have the gift of psychic sight and can see the aura, which is the energy field around The Astral Body, report that they notice dark or cloudy patches in the aura at locations adjacent physical organs which appear, at the time, to be quite normal and healthy. This should be viewed as a grave warning to the subject of the examination, for the psychic is seeing a deterioration of The Astral Body which has not yet brought about a similar wasting or illness in the physical. In other words, The Astral Vehicle is already ill, and it is merely a question of time until the corresponding part of the physical body manifests the same influence."
"Few men now alive on The Earth are conscious of the horrendous damage which they inflict daily upon the beautiful Astral Vehicle by their indulgence in the negative emotions We have listed."
"The high specific heat of water symbolizes the great capacity of the emotional reservoir of each individual to store and provide energy to the body. More specifically, it is The Astral Body Which constitutes this storehouse of energy and Which is being symbolized by the high specific heat of water. But only one emotion warms The Astral Body, that of love. All others (hate, fear, self-pity, etc.) only cool and weaken It. This is why those who indulge in the negative emotions are generally lower in energy and drive than those who emphasize the positive feelings of love, friendship, affection, and so forth. For The Astral Body can feed its own love energy directly to the physical body in terms of stamina, drive, etc. and must do so in order for the individual to fully manifest all of his facets and abilities."
"The nature of The Astral Body Which each individual must inhabit after his physical death is determined throughout his incarnation on The Earth Plane. If the person has allowed only irritation, resentment, fear, or any of the other negative emotions to be his constant companion throughout life, then the beautiful Astral Body, Which he was intended to wear as a jewel in the post-life phase of his experience, becomes sickened, wasted, crippled. It lowers in vibration to a coarse, dull envelope without light or radiance. In such a state, That Astral Body, literally, cannot possibly rise to the levels of light and love which the upper 5 Astral Planes (The Summerland) represent."
"Instead, the dull, coarse Astral Body must inevitably be drawn to the lower, darker realms of The Astral World which are equivalent in vibration to Itself. These levels are where the unrepentant murderers reside, the heartless torturers of their brothers, the hopelessly materialistic and selfish souls without compassion, without the slightest glimmer of spiritual understanding. In these dark wastelands, such beings continue to prey upon each other, torturing each other with their thoughts, even though they cannot kill their victims. But the horror and the hopelessness are thick in the air, as all of the elements in that level take on and reflect back the primitiveness of the souls who inhabit it."
