The Heart:
"The heart is the primary organ of this system which includes the arterial and venous blood passages, the aorta, and the spleen. The heart is the organ which is the most closely associated with The Heart Chakra (The Anahata), that location on The Aetheric Body from which the pure love vibration can be sent forth."
"The most important of the 7 chakras for Humanity at its present stage is that which is associated with the heart. The Heart Chakra is that which primarily allows the passage of Soul-energies related to the love side of the triangle. Man has universally associated the heart organ with the concept of love and tender emotion, even though ostensibly it is merely a muscle for pumping blood. This is so because there is a deep understanding in all men at the subconscious level concerning the significance of the heart."
"Moreover, it is universally observed that the heart is strongly affected in its rhythm by the emotion of love. The reason for this effect is simply that the love energies from The Higher Self which feed into the personality through The Heart Chakra are literally responsible for keeping that physical organ in good health and for regulating its beat."
"Whenever one finds heart trouble, palpitations, cardiac weakness, tachycardia, angina pectoris, heart attack, or any of the other ailments which center on the heart, one can be sure that the love energy being contributed by The Higher Self is either reduced or disturbed in some way. Usually this will arise because, at The Higher Self Level, the love energy is incomplete or unbalanced, i.e. The Soul or Higher Self has some major task of learning yet to accomplish in terms of the love side of the triangle."
"In rarer instances, the love is in balance at The Higher Level but is allowed to manifest down in a disturbed manner in order to test the personality's ability to recognize the problem and take action to correct it."
"But also, any inability of The Heart Chakra to function as a fully open center through which the highest love qualities can manifest will lead ultimately to dysfunction, illness, or structural incapacitation of this organ."
"When the problem manifests as an irregularity in the rhythm of the heart, this is signifying an inconsistency in the love nature. In other words, one who is not able to maintain his love feeling at a constant level, or who finds that his ability to love comes and goes, will typically develope some form of rhythm problem (Dysrhythmia). This may relate to the rapidity of the heart beat, the sequence in which the valves open, or the strength of the beat itself -- any of which may be subject to fluctuation or irregularity."
"When the heart problem is in the form of heart attack (Myocardial Infarction), usually due to a failure of the blood supply to the heart muscle, then the symbolic indicator is that the person has not learned to supply the love side of his triangle (of being) with sufficient energy (blood, in this case, being equivalent to energy). In other words, the individual is not directing himself as much as he should to the matter of expressing and manifesting love in his relations with others. It is, essentially, this lesson for which he came to The Earth. Now, there are cases in which a person who has had heart attacks strikes others as a very loving individual. However, this would have been acquired in this life precisely because of the reminder which his weak heart was meant to provide constantly."
"This brings Us to an important point. It is not always correct to assume that the flaws We have pointed to, the ones being signalled by the various illnesses and dysfunctions of the organs, are still in need of attention and learning. In a minority of cases, the presence of the difficulty has had its hoped-for effect, namely to inspire the victim to put more effort into learning the related lesson, to induce him to make the fundamental changes which are necessary to re-acquire the balance that had been lost. Therefore, it is possible to find, for example, very loving individuals who are nonetheless plagued by heart problems, angina, or whatever."
The Fetal Heart:
"The energy which feeds through The Heart Chakra molds the heart itself during the fetal stage in the womb of the mother. When the heart is weak, malformed, subject to ailments of various kinds, there was invariably a shortfall of heart-energy during the 9 months prior to birth while the energies of The Soul later to occupy the body were being tapped to form the physical vehicle. Specifically, it is the love side of The Soul that is tapped in this process, and whenever there is a lopsidedness or failing in the love energies at The Higher Level, this automatically gives rise to a symbolically appropriate problem at the physical level in the heart organ itself."
Hypertension:
"High blood pressure is a disease which attacks those whose love nature is unevolved. The love capacity is certainly present, but the individual tends to reserve that love for only a few others and does not allow himself to feel love, affection, or compassion for a broad spectrum of his acquaintances. And he is certainly far away from the realization that his love should be given out to all of Mankind and, indeed, all of creation. The absence of the ability to allow the love nature to run freely in effect 'dams up' the flow of love."
"It is known that when a river is dammed up, the water level rises higher and higher. The pressure on the dam increases more and more until finally something must break to relieve the pressure. It is precisely this analogy which is being played out for the victim of high blood pressure. Of course, many people pre-dispose themselves to this disease of the blood through improper diet, but the analogy holds true nonetheless. The simplest way to combat hypertension is to switch over gradually to a high vegetable, low protein diet, preferably to a vegetarian regime, and to practice loving all souls that one contacts. It is essential for the habit of loving everyone to be cultivated, for merely changing the diet alone will not fully achieve the desired cure."
Atherosclerosis:
"While this often strikes older individuals rather than younger, there is, nonetheless, a perfectly understandable spiritual reason for the condition which applies equally well regardless of the age of the victim. The hardening of the arteries denotes a hardening of the emotional side of the individual. The closing down of a previous openness, the adopting of a hardened feeling toward someone else, these rigidifications of the emotional nature will always predispose a person to hardening of the arteries. The reason why more older people suffer from this disease is now evident. Most younger people are able to retain a certain 'suppleness' of emotional response which effectively protects them from this illness. The willingness to be flexible in the affections and emotions ensures that the blood passages themselves will remain supple."
The Blood:
"The blood is the seat of the emotional responses as far as the body is concerned. The emotional impulses arise initially in The Astral Body, but from there are passed to and stored in the physical blood supply. Of course, what is stored is not physical matter and could not be discovered under the microscope. Nonetheless, the substance of the emotional responses, much finer than gross physical matter, is carried around throughout the body in the blood and thus is able to have its effect upon other organs as these are visited by the circulating plasma."
"Now, in view of this fact, it will perhaps be apparent that when you accept the blood of another person, you also take into your body the emotional 'charge' which his blood carried. Hence, if the donor was given to anger, resentment, bitterness, or the like, you may find yourself more inclined toward these negative tendencies for a few days after the transfusion -- the time duration being whatever is required for your body to transmute the negative emotional content of the accepted blood. It is for this reason that donors of blood should try to think only loving and healing thoughts while the blood is being withdrawn from their arm and ideally should have such a positive disposition at all times."
"We might point out that the passing of blood from one person to another, through transfusion, is a part of the program to unite all men as brothers. As each individual receiving a transfusion learns to transmute and handle the emotional content of the donor's blood, so he is also learning to handle his brother's emotional states in general, to uplift these, and to understand his fellows."
"We should also mention that meat-eaters, consuming the blood of the slaughtered animal along with the flesh, also take into their bodies the anguish, terror, and fear which the animal experienced at the moment of death. This emotional charge is not of a human variety and is far more difficult to transmute and balance out than that found in a blood transfusion from a human being. The result of daily injections of fear-laden animal blood is the build-up of an extremely negative charge in the blood stream, which is constantly inciting negative emotions in the meat-eater. It requires more self-control for a non-vegetarian to master negative emotions than it does for one who avoids eating flesh of any kind."
"The fish of the sea are only at the beginning stage of manifesting their emotional natures. By being immersed in the living body of water -- a substance which literally takes up and rings with the emotional contents projected by humans on The Earth -- they are coming into intimate contact with emotionalism per se, and this is drawing out the latent emotional nature of the life-streams manifesting as the various species of fish. It is the cold blood of the fish which indicates that they are only at the beginning stage of emotional learning. The same is true for all cold-blooded species: snakes, amphibians, crustaceans, etc. Blood is the carrier, the very seat of the emotions. If it is cold, as in the fish, the emotional nature is immature. By contrast, if it is hot, as in most birds and all mammals (including Man), then the emotions have manifested, and the basic task is to refine, purify, or control them."
"The circulatory system is, of course, of major importance to This Race of Humanity due to the goal of developing love to the full and the fact that the seat of all emotions is the bloodstream. However, it is extremely difficult to attain any purity of the emotions when the bloodstream is polluted with toxins and debris. We make this point for the sake of seekers who may be trying to purify themselves in terms of thoughts and feelings without seeking an equivalent cleansing of the physical body. It is the blood that needs to be purified if real progress toward spirituality is to be realized."
"Of course, the kidneys regularly cleanse the blood of toxins and poisons. However, there are ways to help in this purification process. One such way is to eat certain herbs and foods that have a cleansing effect. One of the best is parsley. For anyone who has embarked upon a program of bodily detoxification, the daily eating of parsley is highly recommended. The best parsley is, of course, that which has been recently cut."
"In a general way, the liberal consumption of any green, leafy vegetable will help to cleanse the blood. The old saying, 'green food, red blood', is absolutely true. Another excellent blood purifier is garlic, which should always be eaten in the raw state, never cooked. And the removal of red meat from the diet will greatly facilitate the purification of the blood and detoxification of the body in preparation for the brightening of spiritual light. Such removal, however, must be accomplished slowly."
Menstruation:
"Many people have wondered why it is that women often suffer headaches just before or during the time of menstruation. The answer is related to the cleansing of the body. The bodily wisdom knows that menstruation is approaching and knows that a certain quantity of blood will soon be lost from the body. It then uses this forthcoming loss to eject some of the toxins in the system."
"Just prior to the onset of menstruation, the body goes into a semi-fasting mode in which some of the stored wastes and poisons are removed from within and between the cells and dumped via the lymph into the blood. These materials cause the headaches which so often accompany menstruation. As the blood is lost, the contained waste materials are ejected as well. When the period ceases, the toxins are removed from the bloodstream by the 4 eliminators: kidneys, lungs, bowels, and skin. Indeed, the commonly noted foul breath of a woman approaching or undergoing menstruation is another indication that the purification system is at work and is evidence that the blood is loaded with impurities."
"While the operation of this female purification system may seem inconvenient and embarassing to women, it results in a considerable cleansing of the system on a monthly basis. Indeed, it is the sole reason for the fact that, in general, women live longer than men."
"As a general rule, the severity of menstrual bleeding, i.e. the amount of blood lost, is proportional to the degree of toxicity in the body. In a similar manner, the pain of menstrual cramps is a good barometer of the degree to which the physical body has stored up wastes and poisons. The body can regulate the amount of bleeding and will increase the flow in cases of extreme toxic accumulation. The pain, of course, arises from the requirement to pass through the cervix (of the uterus) a quantity of blood that has become viscous and caked due to the great load of poisons which it carries."
"It is generally noted that women who have pursued a cleansing and purification regime for several years (including fasting and a vegetarian diet) notice that their periods become milder with less pain and a decrease in blood loss. This is the result of the purification of the body and the lowered toxin level within and between the cells."
The Heartbeat:
"The brain of early Man was, of course, smaller than at present, however its ability to reason and comprehend was not less than it is today. What was lacking was the part of the brain that controls the heartbeat. The rhythm of this organ was wholly governed by internal reflexes within the heart itself in combination with the oxygen/carbon dioxide balance in the blood."
"We have explained that one major goal of the human life-stream is to awaken the emotional side of experience and ultimately to refine it to the gold of pure love. In order to help with this process, it was decided to alter the human life-form so that the emotions could have an effect on the rate of the heart's beat. This was done through genetic manipulation to give the human form a link between heart and brain, which was similar to that which was then, and is now, found in most warm-blooded animal species. In this altered form, the human being would have a kind of barometer of his emotional states and could thus become more consciously aware of those states."
Anemia:
"Anemia is a disease of the blood in which, for any number of apparently physical reasons, the red cell count in the blood is low. The physical causes which have been blamed for this condition are many, but the ultimate spiritual reason for anemia is the inability and unwillingness to use one's talents and the gifts from God in the service of love, i.e. the service of one's fellow souls."
"The red cells of the blood convey energy to the other parts of the body by carrying oxygen to the cells. The oxygen, which is breathed in through the lungs, represents energy pure and simple. The failure of the blood to convey this energy properly is meant to signify that the energy aspect and the love aspect of the individual are not working together correctly."
"Even some individuals who, on the surface, are aware of spiritual things may be subject to anemia. In such a case, the victim must ask himself whether he really is putting this awareness of The Higher Realities into the service of The Race, whether he really is carrying out the task that was assigned for this life and for which he was given the special abilities and gifts. If the answer is no, then that is the explanation, the hidden one, for the presence of the anemic condition."
