THE TEETH

"This field of study (the teeth) has not been apparent to The Human Race except at the intuitive level. For example, the sight of a person with very crooked teeth, or with sharp, pointed teeth, immediately produces an instinctive revulsion or feeling of distaste. The reason for this feeling relates to the knowledge which The Higher Self has regarding the meaning of the teeth at a symbolic level."

"In fact, each tooth of the human being pertains to a tendency, trait, or Soul-lesson; and a correct appreciation of these lessons at the conscious level will allow a glimpse into the karmic and learning patterns of others."

"Before proceeding to explain these symbolic meanings, however, it is appropriate to stress here the responsibility which this knowledge carries with it. The secret of the tooth meanings places an obligation on the reader not to use the information to harm others or to gain advantage for himself. As seen from The Level where this dictation is originating, the only worthy use to which this material should be put is the helping and uplifting of one's brother souls. We should also stress that the misuse of spiritual information carries with it a very heavy karmic burden."

"Turning now to the tooth meanings, We wish first to emphasize that the teeth on the left-hand side (i.e. the subject's own left not that of the observer) all relate to areas of instinctive tendency, where there is generally no deliberate, pre-calculated tendency to act in the way indicated. By contrast, the teeth on the subject's right denote deliberate actions and attitudes in which the conscious mind has a part."

"Starting with the 2 upper central teeth, referred to as the left and right upper medial incisors, We may give an example of this left/right distinction. The right medial incisor pertains to a deliberate trait of violence, while the left medial incisor points to an unsettled inner nature, i.e. a person lacking a strong base or foundation. This can be accompanied by nervousness and related symptoms."

"Continuing with the same 2 teeth, We may point out the ways in which these traits are signalled. Clearly, the most obvious signal is a missing tooth. In about 80% of all such cases, the meaning may be assumed to apply. However, attention must be paid to the nature of the life-pattern for a proper assessment of the likelihood that the particular meaning applies."

"For example, if a man were regularly involved in activity which exposed his teeth to the danger of being knocked out by a blow, then, depending on the activity, the likelihood of trait applicability might have to be reassessed. However, many such tooth-risk activities in themselves suggest the trait which the tooth might refer to. A good example is that of the hockey player. Virtually all souls who are attracted to rough sports like hockey and football have a strong combative and violent streak running through them. Hence, if a hockey player has had his right upper front tooth knocked out or chipped, this can be taken simply as even more evidence, aside from his chosen activity, that the violent tendency is present."

"Another signal pointing to the significance of a given tooth is visible tooth decay. We emphasize the visibility of the decay because it is only when the marked tooth is noticeable by another that the trait is likely to be present. The purpose of the tooth indicators is to alert 'those who have eyes to see' regarding the inner state and traits of others. Therefore, invisible decaying may not be assumed to be a signal. We should also point out that the sugar-rich diet of many westerners has often resulted in rampant decay of many teeth. If the teeth are generally decayed in a wide-spread manner, then, unless certain specific teeth are visibly decayed as viewed from outside, the meanings of the decayed teeth cannot be taken to apply."

"Another signal which is visible is that of turned or twisted teeth, or teeth that are out of line with respect to the others. For example, many individuals have the canine teeth (#3 on the top) out of alignment with the others, and this may always be taken as an indicator that the traits given below for those teeth are present. Another example relates to the upper medial incisors. Many individuals have one of these teeth overlapping the other. Such a condition is pointing to the tooth which lies forwardly over the other."

"The best guideline is noticeability. If the tooth problem is not directly apparent, then the trait cannot be assumed to be present."

"In the lists which follow, the teeth are numbered from one upward, beginning with the tooth closest to the front of the jaw, and moving around toward the ear."

"Top Left:

1. An unsettled inner nature; a person lacking a base or foundation; nervousness.

2. Same as 1.

3. An instinctive violent tendency toward the spouse.

4. Lack of control over sexual impulses which govern and direct the affectional life too strongly; onanism.

5. An over-emphasis on love affairs; tendency to have more than one involvement at a time; susceptible to growths, tumors, carcinomas.

6, 7, & 8. The individual has something different about him, a strangeness or even non-human quality, due to a different Soul-origin from that of the majority of human Souls. The difference can range from extreme spirituality to extreme lack of spirituality or may be merely an oddness of behavior, a lack of some more normal quality, etc. This indicator is neither 'bad' nor 'good' taken by itself."

"Top Right:

1. Lacks control over a deliberate violent tendency.

2. A larcenous streak; also tendency to travel or move about more than the average person.

3. Deliberately critical of spouse.

4. Too flippant; lacks seriousness; tends to take few things seriously.

5. Lippy and sarcastic toward spouse.

6. Lacks control over sexual impulses which can direct the affectional life too strongly; onanism.

7 & 8. A larcenous streak."

"Bottom Left:

1. A tendency to hold religion and faith in little regard; in the extreme case, ridicule, mockery, and scorning of religious faith.

2-8. Where several of these teeth are missing, the individual has much yet to learn in spiritual terms. He tends to have a man-centered philosophy, if any at all."

"Bottom Right:

1. A food allergy arises at some point in the life.

2. Relates to 'luck' or benefits. If missing or badly decayed, the general karmic pattern appears to be one of misfortune. If the tooth is large, prominent or displaced forwardly, positive effects are felt in the life-pattern.

3-8. Where several of these teeth are missing, the meaning is the same as that given above for bottom left 2-8."
"We emphasize again that these meanings must be applied with care. They do not always work in a simple, pat manner. Moreover, when teeth are prominent because they are substitute teeth, e.g. made of gold or metal, it may be taken that the new tooth structure is likely helping the individual to overcome the trait included, if it is a negative one."

"Experience in observing teeth and comparing them with known traits in the teeth-owners will soon give the reader considerable facility in the area We have just discussed and will allow the subtleties of the interpretations to become apparent."

"It can be seen from the foregoing that the depth of symbolic meaning for the teeth of the human being is much greater than most people might have suspected. And there are additional factors relating to the teeth that We also wish to touch upon."

"Each tooth is linked by connecting paths (life-force channels) through The Aetheric Body with various points in the gastro-intestinal tract. Thus the communication between the teeth and the G.I. tract can be compared to the acupuncture meridians, since these too are pathways for energy in The Aetheric (not physical) Body. In the act of chewing food, pressure on each tooth, in effect, alerts the corresponding part of the gastro-intestinal tract that food material will shortly be entering it. As a result, the respective parts of the stomach, intestines, and so on begin ahead of time to prepare for the forthcoming digestive process by secreting appropriate liquids, enzymes, and the like."

"Conversely, any soreness or sensitivity in a tooth which is not due to tooth decay is an indicator that a problem exists in the part of the digestive tract with which it is connected. The problem may be temporary or chronic."

"Also, We wish to emphasize something which few suspect. Not only are missing or disfigured teeth symbolic of particular traits or lopsided characteristics, but the condition of the teeth actually promotes the traits or characteristics which We have explained earlier. This is due to an extremely complex energy tie-in between the physical brain, the teeth locations, and the major and minor head chakras. There are many chakras in the head, though only 2 -- The Brow Center (Ajna) and The Crown Center (Sahasrara) -- are normally discussed in eastern literature on the subject."

"Hence, good dental work and the straightening of teeth actually promotes a more balanced attitude toward life and a moderation of any negative tendencies which the disfigured teeth might have symbolized. Even the implantation of false teeth or caps will have an effect of this kind, because the added material, even though not of the person's own body tissue, will provide an energy pathway and a focal point at the correct location."

"This procedure of correcting not only the teeth but the traits with which they are associated can be compared to the practice, in an early phase of the Egyptian experience, by which the shape of the skull was examined for irregularities associated with any negative characteristics which the subject demonstrated, and then a form of plastic surgery was utilized to correct the skull shape. The result was always a moderation of the associated negative characteristic."

"It must be emphasized that such a procedure can help an individual overcome a problem or tendency in the actual life being lived, i.e. at the lower self or personality level, but this does not always guarantee that the lesson or change will be properly assimilated by The Higher Self. As with all primary learning functions, actual effort must be expended in order to ensure that the point will be assimilated at The Higher Level. Thus, a combination of structural change (teeth, skull, nose, or whatever), knowledge of the symbology involved, and serious effort to drive the learning home is the way to guarantee that a desired change will be attained."

Cutting Teeth:

"Most newborn infants have no showing teeth. A definite percentage, however, do cut one or more teeth while still in the womb. The presence or absence of teeth at first breath will provide information about the new personality about to develope, and We wish to discuss what these various signals mean."

"Consider first the majority of infants who are born toothless into the world. This is the normal condition and signifies that the personality which will develope in the child will not be marked by any significant over- or under-emphasis. Of course, all personalities do have prominent traits that might be considered a departure from exact balance, but here We mean those characteristics which would mark the individual as clearly odd or unusual."

"Now, when an infant is born with one or more teeth already cut through, the specific position of the visible tooth or teeth can be interpreted as pointing to traits or leanings which will become particularly marked in the individual as he developes to maturity. As such, the parents may wish to take note of any character signals that could create a difficulty for the personality in later life and take whatever corrective action that might be available in the formative years. We will discuss each of the baby teeth separately."

"In the discussion that follows, We will identify the teeth with the letters T, B, R, and L, standing for top, bottom, right, and left, and with the numbers 1 through 5, referring to the teeth in order numbering from the front toward the back. Thus, TR1 is the top right incisor, while BL3 is the third tooth on the bottom left. Remember that the paragraphs below apply only in those cases where the tooth in question is already visible at first breath.

TR1. A flair for violence. Try to avoid the hard G sound in the child's first name (Gary, Gregory, Gertrude, etc.). Be cautious about allowing him or her to engage in sports that encourage violence against others (hockey, football, boxing, etc.).

TR2. Overly active and changeable; restless; high-strung; a possible larcenous streak due to a failure in previous lives to learn to respect the property of others. Avoid the K sound in the first name (Kathy, Carlton, Curt, etc.) and seek, in the early years, to impress on the child the sanctity of personal property.

TR3. A picky, critical, and judgemental nature. Avoid the J sound in the name (John, Jason, Gerry, Jennifer, Giselle) and, in the early years, try to show the child that flaws are inherent in everyone. Make him realize that you love him, even though he is not perfect. Do not expect perfection from him or criticize him excessively.

TR4. A certain lightness of attitude may turn into flippancy and the inability to take anything seriously. Can tend to irritate others with his behavior. Avoid the K sound in the name. Stress the fact that life has a serious side and that some things need to be regarded with respect.

TR5. A tendency to be sarcastic and to wound others with words. Avoid the J and the K in the first name, and try to teach him to curb his sharp tongue.

TL1. A nervous disposition; unsettled inner nature; lack of a base or foundation. A recent life was such as to sap his trust in life or in Providence. The antidote is faith. Try to include a W sound in the name and, if possible, one of the protective sounds of O or SH.

TL2. Same as TL1.

TL3. An instinctive violent tendency, especially toward close family members and, in later life, the spouse. More of a problem for boys than for girls. Avoid the hard G (Gordon, etc.) in the first name and discourage violent or body-contact sports.

TL4. A strong sexuality is likely to develope in later life. Avoid the letter P or the sound CH (as in Charles) in the name as this would worsen the struggle.

TL5. Will tend to indulge self in love affairs in adulthood. Using a J in the first name will make the child more selective and may counteract the tendency to some extent. Otherwise, there is not much that can be done.

BR1. Be aware of the possibility that the infant is allergic to certain kinds of foods, such as dairy products. The digestive system is delicate and should not be strained. The child may have to remain on baby food longer than usual.

BR2. A protective influence is indicated for the entire life-pattern. Usually marks a soul that has contributed a lot to human betterment in previous lives. There is little need to protect the soul further, although this could be done by using an O or SH in the name.

BR3, 4, and 5. These teeth virtually never show through the gums at birth. If they did, however, they would signify a soul with much yet to learn in spiritual terms. A first name with the letter L would be of benefit by adding an impetus to learn as much as possible in the current life.

BL1. A soul who tends to disregard matters of faith or religion; one who lacks a spiritual foundation because the attention in previous lives has been focused on wordly things, ignoring the transcendent realities. Select a first name with the letter W and/or L, and provide an environment which includes the basics of spiritual truth.

BL2 to BL5. See BR3."

"The subconscious is programmed with some but not all memories from previous earth experiences. Only those judged necessary for progress in the current life are placed there during the first year. However, The Guides cannot foresee all eventualities, and it regularly happens that alterations in the contents of the subconscious must be made during the progress of the life."

"Now, this is not a simple matter of plugging new information into the databanks. The introduction of additional memories after age one actually requires a simultaneous change of personality traits, since all of the facets of an individual combine together to produce the personality, including past life memories. In the first year of life these memories are fed into the subconscious as the toddler cuts its baby teeth, a process which is facilitated by the open fontanelle in the early months. But later on these channels are unavailable, and something in the nature of a crisis must be engineered in order to accomplish the same thing."

"The appearance of new teeth in a child during the first years of life represents an opportunity to introduce various memories into the subconscious, in order to help develope the personality in a desired direction."

"We will turn now to a more general discussion of the process by which a soul's Guides ensure that various traits and past life memories are incorporated into the complex which will become the new personality. The basic repository of memories from previous earth experiences is the subconscious. However, as a general rule there is no subconscious, as such, at the moment of birth. The subconscious is the creature and servant of the conscious mind and only forms as the new consciousness gradually accumulates experiences and knowledge which it is appropriate to store there. We hasten to add that this experience and knowledge is not merely that which the waking consciousness receives. Indeed, there is much more that is learned and accumulated in the sleeping state than in the waking state, particularly during the first months of life."

"When the baby sleeps, the consciousness leaves the new body through the open fontanelle and is taken to what might be termed 'cram courses' in The Higher Temples (on The Astral Planes). There the consciousness reviews episodes and relationships from previous earth experiences, and, as it does so, The Soul or Higher Self allows direct memory of the reviewed events to pass into the consciousness. These memories are stored in the forming subconscious, and, although they remain accessible to the conscious mind for a while after they are received, this access gradually clouds over until the point is reached, usually before the child learns to talk, when they cannot be clearly summoned up any more. However, the feeling of the memories remains."

"Additional memories are normally added to the subconscious only by inducing a physical crisis of some kind in the individual. In the case of a young child, the additional memories could be introduced into the subconscious during a typical bout of childhood illness. However, it is common for The Guides to utilize the cutting of new teeth regularly for that purpose. This process is usually accompanied by malaise and a low-grade fever, and such conditions are suitable for the addition of subconscious memories due to the still very plastic nature of the personality. Moreover, the emergence of a tooth through the gums provides a kind of crystal receiver through which The Soul can send down a different kind of vibration. This is why parents often note that their child undergoes a distinct change with each new tooth. Traits appear which were not seen before, and the child's reactions alter."

"All of this is in accordance with The Great Plan for Mankind on This Planet. As the body grows in size, it becomes capable of receiving and expressing more of the soul's traits and more of its essence. The Soul uses the teeth as focal points through which It inculcates the selected characteristics. The chakras are also employed later for the same purpose, but in the newborn the chakras are largely unfocused. That is why the teeth are so important in the early phase of life."

"The symbolic aspect of this discussion will also be apparent to those who contemplate the hidden meaning of things. The teeth will be used to help assimilate food, just as the traits passed down through them, as focal receptors, will be employed to assimilate and 'digest' the experiences of life."

"We now wish to discuss the meanings that can be read by observing which teeth appear first in the infant (if none were present at birth). Generally speaking, the first 3 teeth will be significant pointers toward traits or characteristics that are likely to be to the fore in the eventual personality patterns. However, We would not consider the indicated traits to be so prominent as to represent an imbalance as in the case where the tooth or teeth are already cut through at first breath."

"It is not necessary to detail the specific meanings for the teeth that come through after birth, as they are identical to those We have already given for the teeth that are already apparent at birth. However, the emphasis on the various traits is not as great. The best approach is simply to keep the meanings in mind as you watch your child develope, and if a problem starts to manifest, simply take whatever corrective action appears appropriate to you."

"For example, if your child is born toothless and within the first month starts to cut the tooth We identified above as BR1 (first on bottom right), you would watch for any signs of a food allergy; TR1 (top right incisor) would suggest a certain scrappiness; BL1 would point to inner uncertainties, nervousness, and lack of confidence; and so on."

"A similar approach is valid for the replacement of baby teeth with adult teeth. Take note of the first 3 teeth to be replaced, and look for signs or indications in the personality which correspond to the meaning given earlier."

"A further point should be made here. When any baby or adult tooth is markedly unusual in its placement or appearance, you may assume that the corresponding trait or characteristic will be prominent in the personality, at least for as long as the tooth is noticeable. Sometimes it happens that a particular baby tooth is unusual but is eventually replaced by a perfectly normal adult tooth. In such a case, the related trait will be in evidence only during the early years. The appearance of the normal adult tooth will indicate that the problem or characteristic has faded to a more normal level."

"An example might help to clarify this process. Consider a young girl who developes normal baby teeth, having been born toothless. However, at age 2 she falls against a brick fireplace and damages the top left incisor (TL1). The root is severed, and, although the tooth remains in the gum, it turns grey and becomes quite noticeable. This condition can be assumed to have been engineered by her Guides so that, aside from the karmic implications, the evident discoloration can point out that the child is passing through a phase of uncertainty and lack of confidence. During this time, she will require more demonstrated affection, support, and gentleness than usual for youngsters of her age. If the discolored tooth is later replaced by a normal tooth, one can assume that the phase of uncertainty has passed."
