"The gift which God has bestowed upon The Human Soul is that of eternal, focused consciousness. But He meant Man also to know the joy of giving to others, even as He knew The Divine Joy of giving eternity to His earth children. Therefore, He arranged for Man to have more than the essentials for the support of life, so that there would be extra to be given to those who are in need or to those who are dependent upon the giver for support. In giving to others, Man approaches closer to His own Divinity, for it is in the nature of The Godhead to shower gifts and abundance upon all of the creatues that have emanated from Him. Through giving and through creativeness, Man rises to take His place among the noble Races of The Cosmos."
"Yet, there are those who, because of self-worth or self-image problems, will not allow others to give to them. All readers will know certain individuals who steadfastly discourage others from giving them gifts and who make the giver feel he has somehow done something wrong in offering the gift. This attitude is unfortunate, for the one discouraging the giver is refusing to allow that other soul to experience the act of giving, the joy of bestowing something upon another. The person who thus discourages others from giving is refusing to give the gift of giving. For here, too, is a gift to another -- allowing that other person also to know the joy of giving."
"We would say, then, that he who truly aspires to spiritual progress not only gives freely to others but also allows others to give to him, accepting graciously that which is offered. For indeed, do not those gifts from others come ultimately from God? And is it right to refuse God the joy of giving?"
