MOURNING

"The clinging to one who has departed The Earth, regardless of the circumstances of his passing, can only bring pain to the person who insists on looking backwards in this manner. More importantly, The Soul of the deceased is actually held back in Its progress by any untoward or magnified grief or yearning."

"The best thing that anyone can do for an individual that has made the transition is to let him go, to wish him well, to pray for his rapid progress, and to turn the attention toward the future. Grief is an extremely selfish emotion. The one who mourns is mourning for himself, is pitying himself for being now left alone. This is not love or loyalty, and it is certainly not helping the one who has passed over. If there was, indeed, any real love felt for the deceased individual by the one surviving him, the way to show it is to beam that love toward him, to pray for his rapid progress, and then to let go. Only in this way can happiness eventually come to the survivor, and only in this way can the deceased get on with his path of learning and progress."
